Safety Reminders
ARRIVAL TO SCHOOL
- If I arrive at school in the morning before the gates open at 8:35 AM, I must remain at the front of the school
- Once the gates open at 8:35am, I can get breakfast, if I wish to. (Breakfast ends at 8:55). I will only have access to the Lunch/Breakfast area.
- When the musical cue starts to play at 9:05, I will line up with my class. School begins at 9:10 and I am to be in my seat in class ready to start.
- When walking to and from school it is important to follow all traffic rules. I should always walk across the street at a marked crossing or traffic light.
- When I arrive at school after the bell rings and the gates are closed, I should go directly to the Welcome Center and check in with Ms. Marlene.
- If it is raining when I arrive at school, I will have access to the covered lunch area, the Loft or the Showcase, until I am told to go to my classroom.
DURING SCHOOL:
- When at school, I should always stay on the sidewalks and NOT cut through planters and wood chips.
- I will walk and use a quiet voice when in buildings and hallways. Pay attention to the marked areas that are off limits to students during lunch and recess.
- Play equipment is to be held while walking through the school. Please don't bounce balls in the hallways.
- During damp and rainy weather, playground apparatus should not be used until dry.
- I will have pride in my school by throwing trash in trashcans, using the restroom properly, and being polite to speakers or entertainers at school assemblies.
- I will take care of school property. If I purposely break, damage, or take any school or personal property including library or textbooks, I know I will need to pay to replace or repair the item.
DISMISSAL FROM SCHOOL:
- I need to go straight home after school.
- I NEED TO MAKE SPECIAL AFTER SCHOOL ARRANGEMENTS WITH MY PARENTS PRIOR TO COMING TO SCHOOL.
- I will meet my parents at the front of the school or at our designated pick up spot.
- I will use cross walks. I will not cross across the parking lot at any time.
- PARENTS DRIVING STUDENTS TO AND FROM SCHOOL NEED TO ADHERE TO THE PARKING LOT PROCEDURES FOR DROPPING OFF AND PICKING UP STUDENTS.
ADDITIONAL REMINDERS:
- I may not bring toys to school such as yo yo's, skates, tennis balls, marbles, dolls, radios, trading cards, electronic games, etc..
- No rollerblading, skateboarding, or bicycle riding is allowed on school property at any time.
- No roller shoes are allowed on campus at any time. Please remove wheels from the shoes while on campus.
- I will not bring pets to school unless I have the permission of my teacher and parents.
- Pets are never allowed on school buses and must always be kept in a cage.
- If I need medication at school, I must bring a District Medication Form signed by the doctor and give the medication to the health tech to hold for me.
- I am expected to wear clothing and shoes appropriate for school.
- No clothing with inappropriate graphics / words and not sagging / dragging pants will be allowed.
- Chewing gum is not permitted.
PLAY IT SAFE
PLAYGROUND EXPECTATIONS:
- I will show respect for all adults who supervise the playground. When I hear the musical cue, I will stop playing (freeze) and walk to my line.
- I understand that all games are open to any student at D39C, there are no closed games.
- I will not bully another student, fight another student, spit, swear, throw rocks or sand anywhere on the playground. I understand that any of these behaviors could get me sent home or suspended after my parents have been contacted.
- I will eat my snack in the designated snack area. Food is not to be eaten anywhere else on the playground.
- The backboards are for handball only. Balls should not be bounced against the building walls.
- I will play respectfully on the playground. I understand that there is no rough play.
PLAYGROUND EQUIPMENT EXPECTATIONS:
- I will not play tag or chase on or near the playground equipment.
- I will slide down the slide one person at a time. I will slide down feet first in a sitting position.
- I will not climb on top of or jump off of the slide, swings or any other playground equipment.
- I will take turns on the swing. When I am waiting for a swing, I will count to 50.
- I will keep two (2) hands on the bars at all times.
